Keeping a separate version of a sub-report

If I have a Main Report and I have pulled in an already created sub-report. Are their any circumstances when I should keep the sub-report as a separate entity?

If I need to make changes to the sub-report after pulling it into the Main Report, can these changes always be made within the Main Report?



I ask the questions, because I have 2 versions of the software, in which the Main Report is the same but the sub-reports are different, and maintenance is easier if I don't have to include a copy of the correct sub-report as a separate entity when doing updates to the software.

it IS a separate entity. Subreports are reports. (they just reside in another rpt )
edit them separately, or in the main report. ( i prefer separate)

If I deleted the separate entity would there be any long-term problems?
I tried deleting the separate entity sub-report, and the main form with its "copy" of sub-report does not work without it.

So if I pulled in a blank sub-form, then designed it, it would appear in my list of reports as a separate entity?

Seems to me I have to maintain it as a separate entity.
