Can I reference a query in a conditional formatting expression?

I have a query that currently spits back the number "X". I'd like to set a conditional formatting in a form that will highlight all records where a certain date field is more than "X" days old. Is it possible to reference a value from a query within a conditional formatting expression?

If the field is part of the recordsource of the form/report, sure. You'd have to use DLookup() if not.
