Using a unbounded Datasheet form

Good Day.



I created an unbounded datasheet form which I want to use without a connection to a table. I just want to enter values to operate on and then discard.

My problem is that it would not accept entries. I cant even click into a cell.

Can anyone please guide me with this problem.

datasheets MUST connect to a table. It is the basis of Access. (it has to store the value somewhere)
you can enter into a temp table.

Or a Continuous form with UNBOUND textboxes arranged to look like datasheet.

However how can you rationalize the fact that unbounded controls are used, stores values, and are not connected to tables?

An UNBOUND control will hold a value but is not 'stored' anywhere without code to save to table.

But that is exactly how I want a datasheet to work in this instance. That is I want it to be unbounded, hold some values, and perish when the datasheet is closed. by that time I would have already used the values in the datasheet.

As already stated, it won't work and options have been suggested.

Thanks. I have been using the options, which works very well. However Curiosity stills got the better of me. So I can't still understand why a datasheet cannot be used as an unbounded control.

A form is not a control object, it is a form object. All data controls in DetailSection on an UNBOUND form, regardless of how arranged, will show as only a single row in DatasheetView. This is because there are no records to cause the controls to 'replicate', data controls must be BOUND to data for Datasheet to display as multiple rows - rows are records.
