RowSource and Control Source defined

What is the difference between a rowsource and control source say for a combo box on a form in design view?



The are similar, but they are different.

Control source is the data that fills the combo.
the other is where the data picked gets saved.

Lou if you look online for stuff like this it will explain it all. Search on something like "Access 2010 combo box Row Source", then do for control source. Lot of good info on web that explains alot of these "what is this" or "how to use" questions. For a quick answer, Row Source is what populates the list the combo box displays, where Control Source is what field in the table the data will save to or display. Use a combo box wizard to try different options, then afterwards go look at the properties of the combo box and you can see the options it puts in there.

think that is the other way round

The row source is shown for a combo box as well as a control source. On other controls there is a control source, but no row source. The control source
is always shown and the row source is sometimes shown.

I am not sure why. Please explain.
