Combining two forms by making one form a subform

I have a db with two forms one that is small and one that is large. I would like to add the small form to the large form by making the small
form a subform. Is there a set procedure to do this?

I am using MS Access 2010 64 bit edition.

I just do not want to start over and create a new subform from scratch.

You can use the subform wizard to add it to the big form.

Okay, that seems like the best option so here is what I did.

1. Right-click the existing form in the Navigation Pane and then click design view. (this pen up the master form in design view)
2. On the Design tab in the controls group ensure that the Use Control Wizards is selected. (I did that easily enough)
3. On the Design tab, in the Controls group, click the Subform/Subreport button. (I did that and nothing happened. this is my first time using the Subform/Subreport wizard ever so I am unsure as to what happened. I believe that nothing happened.)

Now if the Wizard does not start it says in the MS Access instructions it is possible Access is running in sandbox mode but Microsoft Jet SP8 or later is not installed. Jet 4.0 SP8 or later is required for Access
to be fully functional when sandbox mode is enabled. How do I tell if Microsoft Jet SP8 is installed.

I am of course referring to the SubForm/SubReport Wizard not the Form Wizard, but I am curious if this could be the cause of inactivity when the SUbForm/SubReport Wizard is click. I am not even sure to tell
what mode I am running MS Access 2010 in.

So I need help with this.

Nothing will happen until you click the location on the form that you want to place the subform (let's call it step 4). Then the wizard should start.

Okay, but please understand that I do not want to create a subform I already have one. It is just a small form that I am now going to use
as a subform. It would seem more appropriate to use "copy and paste" or "click and drag". When I read click the location on the form where you want to place
the subform, it makes me think that I creating something new, a subform, instead of just using an existing form in different way. It is not a subform yet until I place it on the form.

The wizard will let you choose the small form. I think you can just drag the small form onto the large, but I don't know if you'll get the wizard, which will ask about joining fields and such.

This steps that I talked about yesterday are easy. The difficulty comes in placing the small form (now as a subform) on the large master form. It seems that if I put it over a another object or control that object turns black. Is this normal?

Also, I tried to put it down lower on the form and it shows up is design view, but disappears in form view. That is not good especially if one wants to enter data later on that form and subform.

I have seen subforms actually extend over the boundaries of a form and that is fine. I can live with that. It is that the subforms bottom area is now lower than
the masterforms bottom section or area. The master form no longer contains completely the subform.

I just do not want things to turn black when I put my subform on them or things the subform to be visible in design mode and disappear in
form mode.

If the subform doesn't show up, it could be that it doesn't return any records or allow new records. As to its size and position, both can be changed. Can you attach the db here?

Lou, open your "Large Form". go to Design, click on Subform/SubReport once. Go down onto your "Large form" with your mouse and think of it as dragging open a big window to view your "Small Form". Drag that sucker to the size you want. You can play with resizing it and moving it around after. Once you release the mouse the wizard will start. Change to "Use and existing form". Select your "Small form" and proceed through the wizard.

That's it!

Okay the MS Access 2010 database file is attached. It should show the problem of simply adding a subform to a form. Then not having anyplace
to put it on the master form so it looks neat and tidy. It either disappears or it is just jammed in to the master form.

Oaky, I could not upload the files because it was too big - before repair and compact. So I repaired and compacted and then zipped it.
