    Database comes up as Read-Only

Hello, everyone. Here is a frustrating issue for the users in our office. On occasion a particular Access database launches as Read-Only. There is a yellow banner at the top of the Access environment with an information "I", "Read-Only", and a message that says "This database has been opened read-only. You can only change data in linked tables. To make design changes, save a copy of the database." We have inspected the ACL permissions in the folder and there doesn't appear to be a reason for this behavior with regard to that. My question is that I'm wondering if there is a setting in Access itself that might cause this. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

Do you have multiple users accessing the database at the same time?
If so, have you split the database into a back-end and front-end?
    If not, you DEFINITELY should.

I have seen this when I have a link in an excel file to a query in the database and the excel file is open.
