Autonumberr Issue

Why are we not allowed to have more than one autonumber in each table we crate I n design view. It say to delete the values and row. Add a second row and make that not autonumber, but just number.



It seems a that the foreign key in the second table should be autonumber also.

you don't need 2 autos.
tbl 1 has auto for the key
tbl 2 a child of tbl 1 , will have the key as LONG (for the parent id)

Why would you think a foreign key would be autonumber? Autonumbers are generated independently of other tables.

A PK does not have to be an autonumber field but it is often convenient to do so. The related foreign key would never be an autonumber.
