    Reset button vba for a File Search

    Morning, I am trying to figure out how to make my reset button work for a file search.
    I need all the fields cleared when it's pressed. There are about 20 fields ranging from cbo's to txt fields to y/n. all unbound.

    someone had this before, getting an error on Null

    Code:
    Dim ctl As Control

        'Clear all the controls in the Form Header section.
        For Each ctl In Me.Section(acHeader).Controls
            Select Case ctl.ControlType
            Case acTextBox, acComboBox
                ctl.Value = Null
            Case acCheckBox
                ctl.Value = 0
            End Select
    Thanks!

    Try replacing Null with Empty or ""

    Are the controls you are trying to clear bound to fields in a table/query?

    they are getting their values from a tbl/query but not a control source no. they are unbound. I separated the actextbox and accombobox. I get the same error but its the acTextBox it doesn't like the value assigned to.

    Sounds like one of the text box controls is formatted as Date.

    Maybe determine any formatting for the text box controls before attempting to assign a value.

    didn't find anything with a date format. I've completed cheated and just went with a close and open form command. How bad is that? ha ha

    I would not think formatting would prevent setting to Null.

    If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
    How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

    If you are still interested, I know some of us are, maybe you could place a debug.print ctl.name just before assigning the value. Switch between empty string and null. You can view the results in the immediate window, Ctrl+G on your keyboard.

    Also, what event are you using to execute the code? Maybe place focus in a safe place before executing the code.
