date range help

I can not get the date range to work- Ive done this program for years and can't figure out what I am doing wrong

I used to type in >7/1/2015&<8/1/2015 but it doesn't work anymore- can anyone tell me what I need to do to make it work-

In the design grid? You'd want "and" instead of "&" for starters. I'd probably use Between though.
