    Mask for UK phone numbers

    Hi

Apologies if this is a simple question but this is my first foray in Access.

I'm creating a simple contact database and want to use the UK format for phone numbers.

I went into table design view and then highlighted a telephone field set to short text.

Went down to the mask option and selected the mask wizard,

relalising there was no option for UK I added a new mask typing in (99999) 999999 ( I beleive the 9 indicates not necessarily required)

When I go back to the table the curser is in the middle of the field and types from that point so I see
    ( 019) 123456

    the code in the mask is shown as \(99999") "999999;;

    would really appreciate some pointers

    thanks

    Ian

    That mask works for me.

When I tab into the box, the cursor is at beginning.

Use \(99999") "999999;0;_ to show underscore in each position and to save the () characters.

But shouldn't every digit be required?

    Hi

thanks for the reply I'll take another look later

    Asa point of information

UK phone number formats are not fixed, neither are postcode/zip codes

Uk Numbers can have 10,9 or seven digits

Post codes can be 5 or six digits

    We like to be different!!

    Thanks for the advice

    Ian

    Smile Still mask error

    HI

I created another blank desktop database and added one field in a new table

I made it short text and then set the mask to the default american telephone format

When I close the table and then double click to open it the curser is in the middle and starts typing from that point.

    clearly I'm doing something wrong

I've attached a copy of the database in the hope that some kind person will take a look

    thanks

    Ian

Mask is not the U.S. telephone format. It shows \(99999\)000900;0;_

When I tab into empty field, the cursor is at beginning. When I tab into populated field, the entire value is selected and types over because of my db Client Settings.
