Queries are suddenly read only. How did this happen and how do I fix it?

Microsoft has been updating Access since I bought this computer in 2005, so it is now listing itself as Access 10 and in many ways it is. I'm now signed up to get Access 10 at the end of this month and was warned that they will be uploading some preliminary materials to prepare for a quick final installation. A few odd things have happened so this may be one of the by products. Since it applies only to Queries, I can work around it, but its hard to see how that could be, and it is definitely a nuisance.

Access 2003 was version 11 and Access 2007 was version 12.

Version 14 is Access 2010. Version 15 is Access 2013.

The next version that is coming out soon is version 16 and it is Access 2016.

Perhaps you edited your Query by adding a table or changing the property of a JOIN.

Is it happening when you first make a query?

Are you using a macro to run queries? If so, double check you don't have them selected as read only in the macro.

No, the query is an old one that I have been using almost daily, so having it turn up read only was a jolt. And I don't use macros. On the other hand, I sometimes get my fingers tangled up and may hit a key without knowing what it was. I've checked some of my other queries, and they are all right, The table is OK and the query picks up any changes I make there, but the form that I want to update and print is waiting for its data. I'm no expert, of course, but I'd really like to figure out how it happened and why. In any case, I thank you for the suggestion.

check you haven't unwittingly changed the query recordsettype to snapshot - either in the query or the recordsource to your form

How do I check the recordsettype? I'm checked the Property sheet and don't know where else to look. I'm not familiar with snapshot.

it is on the property sheet

on forms - 2nd row down on the form data tab

and queries - 10th row down

not sure what happened with the image - please ignore, I don't seem to be able to delete it
