    Access & Excel Data Comparable?

    Hi Group: First timer here.

I have an Associate Member database in Access 2010. I update this manually with information I get from an Excel spreadsheet. I want to know if it is possible to somehow compare the information in the Excel spreadsheet to the info in the Access database without having to manually go thru each member file. I know there is a way to compare information in 2 different spreadsheets. I haven't mastered that yet, but can I do that with Excel & Access?

    Thanks

If the Excel sheet structure is simple enough, could set a link to the sheet. Then the linked sheet can be treated like a table (except cannot edit). Then try a Find Unmatched query.

    Link is an issue

The problem with the link is I update the access database using a Excel worksheet that is downloaded monthly and what I want to do is be able to update the information In access with the different Excel worksheets. So linking the access database I think would be a problem because I would have to do it every time?

Unless you overwrite the Excel file so the name does not change even though the data does.

Alternatively, VBA code can create links.
