    Access and PDF's

I'm running Widows & 32 bit using Access 2010 32. I have an Access front end with buttons that reference documents in our network; Word, Excel, PDF's, etc. I'm using Acrobat Reader 11.0.09. On most pc's it works fine. On some however I cannot pull up the PDF's through my Access program but I can go to the file directly and double click to open it so the association to file type in Windows works. Sometimes I get an error message in my Access front end that states there is no program associated with the file type. Sometimes I get no message and it just doesn't work. How do I specifically associate file types to programs in Access?

Thank you in advance for your help.

This code will assicate the doc with the app
Paste this code into a module, and it will open ANY file in its native application.
    usage: OpenNativeApp "c:\folder\file.pdf"
    will open it in acrobat
    and
    OpenNativeApp "c:\folder\file.doc"
will open the doc in Word, etc.

    Code:
    'Attribute VB_Name = "modNativeApp"
    'Option Compare Database
    Option Explicit
Private Declare Function ShellExecute Lib "shell32.dll" Alias "ShellExecuteA" (ByVal hwnd As Long, ByVal lpszOp As String, ByVal lpszFile As String, ByVal lpszParams As String, ByVal lpszDir As String, ByVal FsShowCmd As Long) As Long
