    automatically refresh import from file.

    Hello.

I know how to manually link or import a csv file into Access...
But is there any option to automatically update it whenever the source changes?
    Preferably not entailing macros.
I guess we should be able to tell how often to check it.

    regards

What do you mean by the 'source changes' - new CSV file with different name? No, must create new link to the new file.

Replace the existing file with the new file using same name and the existing link will be good. This does assume the file structures are identical.

Links are dynamic. If you simply edit the existing CSV (add/delete/edit rows) the data will automatically reflect in Access.

    Hello.
I mean the content of the file changes.
For example the file comes from the output of another program and changes every 10 seconds.
Then it's read by Access, that it performs some calculation or show a graph with the data.

And I mean to update it automatically, without pressing any "update" button nor reloading it manually.
I mean just do it once manually and then leave access to refresh the result being updated automatically every xx secs or when it detects a change.

As I said, a link is dynamic and will automatically refresh.

    Imports are not dynamic.

    Hello.

Where can I find more details?. (such as how often does Access check for changes or what method uses, timely, triggers...).

Look at File > Options > Client Settings > Advanced > Refresh interval.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...010341940.aspx

Actually, I think refresh interval may be irrelevant for linked text and Excel files.

Since the file cannot be edited while the link is in use (the table is open or a form or report using it is open), refresh is forced and edits show as soon as the table is used.
