    Text field character limit

    Hello,

New to Access so please bear with me. A text field can only have 255 characters. Since that is sooo restrictive, I'm currious if there is a well known way around it. I want to create a "notes" field in my table to store additional information. However, when trying to populate my database I noticed that almost all of the notes my team wrote down exceed the 255 character limit.

Should I use something besides a text field to capture this information? I was thinking of attaching a word document to each record but that seems excessive when the users only have a paragraph of notes. A "notes" field is so common that I figured there must be some other way to accomplish it.

    Any ideas? Thanks
