Duplicate values in created Serial Number Database

I've just created a Serial Number Database and the issue I'm having is when I activated the "Indexed (No Duplicates)" for the Serial Number Field. If i'm going by my "Part Number" field may be duplicated. How do I make my database so that I can use the same serial number for a specific part number and not duplicate a number within that part number?

    I appreciate any help

Youll have to explain a bit more i think.

You have set the serial number field so that it doesnt accept duplicates.
    Part numbers may be duplicates.

Then you ask how you set the part number so that i DOES accept duplicate serial numbers.
Part numbers may not be duplicates.

I might be reading it wrong, but it sounds a little contradictory.
Can you provide us with an example of what your trying to accomplish ?

    ------------

Thank you Jeroen for the prompt response.

Here's an example of what I'm trying to accomplish:

Currently my database has the fields "Customer," "Part Number," "Work Order," and "Serial Number."
However, we would use the same serial number(s) for the different part number(s), for example Part Number XXXX would use Serial Numbers 0001-0005 and Part Number YYYY would use the same Serial Number 0001-0005.

How can I make this database allow the use of the same Serial Number for the different part numbers but not allow duplication of Serial Number(s) for the specified part Number?

    Thank you.

Do you have a data model that shows the design of your tables and relationships? A jpg of this would be helpful to readers.

Are you really talking about a serial number or a Part number? What is the difference(s) in these terms as you use them?

What is a Part vs a Part number in your set up?

Here a snapshot of my database and relationship.

I'm talking about the Serial Number. We may duplicate Serial Numbers for a different part number. How can I make my database allow me to use the same serial number for the different part numbers and not duplicate the serial number for a part number? Thanks.

?? How do all your tables relate? Please show us all the tables and relationships.
Your sample shows to tables elated on non-key fields???
My advice is --- Get your model correct before you get into forms etc.

If you are not familiar with Normalization, please see this
