    Steve,
Thank you for the suggestion. It worked! (Kind of!!) I was still getting a lot of errors still, but when I created another new DB and just imported the objects needed by the search device, that enabled me to test the search device again and find all its elements. I have uploaded a DB "TSTER-SEARCHBOX.zip".

Now I have got it working, it isn't quite as amazing as I remember it as being! It only searches one field. I think the combo box idea that ItsMe was helping me with, yesterday, could turn out to be more suited to my needs today, if he (or someone) can help me develop it so that I can get the found record (or the selected record showing n the combo box, if more than one record matches my search string) immediately appears as the current record in my main (single-record) form... (per my most recent reply to ItsMe)...

Orange, Thank you! ...This looks very interesting. Unfortunately, something seems wrong. I followed the instructions, but when I create the list box, and using the wizard to add fields from the query, to be included in the listbox, I get an error when I hit the "finish" button: "No value given for one or more required parameters"
    Regards,
