    A Growing Front End?

I have a curious problem. I have split my database, and ensured multiple times that all the tables that are in the front-end are links to tables in back ends. Except, my front-end is sporadically growing in size. It went from 29 MB to 49 MB and now it is at 78 MB.... Can anyone tell me why and whether or not I should be concerned?

I would be concerned. Others have posted about this problem and they suspect it is related to a Windows update. I would suggest looking at the hidden system objects and taking notes on which objects are growing. Not sure what the ultimate solution would be, but if you can isolate where the growth is I feel confident you could then do something about it.

At the top of the Nav Pane you can right click to get to a properties window and then tick to show system objects.

Do you make any changes to objects in the front end? That will cause the size to increase, though I would not have that by that much.

Another possibility is queries - does the front end have any large, complex multi-table queries that are run periodically, say for period-end reports? Those may be culprit as well - I have seen a case where a query caused Access to crash because the .mdb file size limit was reached.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
