Formatting a Subform Identically to its Main Form?

Could I please request help formatting a subform? I have a form with a subform, and the subform is in datasheet mode. I know how to format the form, and have done so to my satisfaction.

(To be specific, I've changed the background color of the form and the fields to a light yellow. I've set the fonts to Arial, have border widths set, etc.)

I don't seem to be able to format the subform the same way, though. In Form View and Layout View, I have the subform formatted just the way I like it. But it doesn't appear formatted that way when on screen with the main form.
The screen shot below shows the formatting.

My question is: Is it possible to format the subform so it appears the same way as the main form? If it is possible, then I haven't figured out how to do it, so I'm requesting advice on how, please.

It's not a big deal if I can't get the subform yellow, but if it can be done, I'd like to. Thank you! Warren Page

Could you attach your db zipped up so we can play with it?

It's just a rough draft--a VERY rough draft--but sure, you're welcome to dabble with it, if it will help you help me. I just have to figure out how to attach a .zip file to a message.

I switch to a Continuous View Form and it seems to work. You're kinda stuck with whatever DataSheet wants to do.

That's excellent. Please teach me how to switch to Continuous Form view. I'm not sure how to change the subform's view once I've created it. Thank you! Jd

In the Form the Subform is based on, go to Properties - Format and change the Default View to Continuous View. You can tweak the design so that it looks similar to the Datasheet View Form, if you want, but will be able to use the Fonts and Colors you want.

    Hello.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. When I tried to switch the main form to Continuous View, I saw this box:

So, what else can I do?

It is the Subform that needs to be set to Continuous Form view, *NOT* the mainForm. Just as I did in the example I uploaded.

I'm afraid I'm going to ask for more help with this. My form and subform looks nothing like yours, and I have no idea how to get mine to resemble yours.

    Here's mine:

    Here's yours:

Another problem: When I scroll through my subform, some of the records are formatted differently than others. By that, I mean some records are formatted with a yellow background, while others have a yellow subform background, but the field background is gray. I obviously have more work to do with this. Can you guide me through it, please?

I can't get the image below deleted from this post. Please disregard it.

I intentionally did not modify your SubForm but made a Copy of that SubForm and modified the copy. It is the copy that I then used in the SubFormControl on the mainForm and did not change the MainForm at all. Have you looked at the "Copy of..." that I created to see the differences?

I'm very very very close. I'd say I'm about 99% there, thanks to your help. I got the form/subform to look like this, thanks to doing some properties tweaking. I learned a lot about Properties just by reading through them and playing with them, to see what they'd do.

Here's where I'm at right now:

I'm not concerned about labels right now, because I can plug them in anytime. I kept the scroll bar on purpose. Now...if we can work on turning the gray records to yellow, I'd call this subform done. Why is every other record gray, and how do I fix that (if possible) so they're all yellow?

    Thanks again.

The Detail section of the SubForm has an "Alternate Back Color" property which I set to [No Color]

That worked. That did it! Thank you! I think I can now proceed with the rest of the database. This was the last loose end. The main form will have a couple of option groups, a check box or two, and a few drop down menus. I will also need some conditional formatting on a field. But this stuff I know how to do.

So, thank you once again for your help and patience. Warren Page
