    Need help With Margins/Column Height

So have an interesting issue. I have an access file that runs a report that I print out. After switching from Access 2000 to Access 2013 I notice that I am not able to change the margins. If I change the top of left margin to .16 it changes my text to .166....likewise if I change the bottom or right margin to .16 it changes it to .18 as soon as I tab to the next field.

Also added to this if I go to the columns section of page setup and change the width I see on report that the columns get closer or further apart depending on the change. However any change I make to height has 0 effect on the report. I am wondering if that is where my problem lies but I dont see how to get around it, have tried it on a couple of different computers and only thing I found online was check my print drivers.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried going into the Printer's properties vs. the application's formatting properties (Page Setup)

I was going to suggest to look at the global margin settings within Access. It seems you are already addressing this issue since you are able to get to .18. I believe default for Access is 0.25

You may be at the printer's physical limits or the limits imposed by the Printer's drivers. The only thing I can suggest is to go back to the Global settings in Access and see if it is at .18 and then check the reports Page Setup.

Sorry I can not offer more help. Considering it was working before it is hard to understand why not now. Perhaps you can roll back printer drivers. Maybe you are on a new OS as well as a new Access version. Something else may have changed from when things were working.

Maybe, using the computer you are designing the DB with, you can change the default printer to something else. Maybe you can switch it to a PDF printer or Print to File. Then try again with the Report's Page Setup. Just throwing ideas out there. I have had struggles with this in the past and can't remember what I may or may not have tried.

It was working on Access 2000. It started happening when we upgraded to a new office suite. I will check the global print settings.

So it sounds like you got an OS upgrade too. With that, you probably have new printer drivers.

I believe Access's global settings will affect the default margins when you create a new report. If you get things working, you might want to go back and adjust the global settings.

Added information as I am still tinkering with this. Made a brand new access file in 2013, new table and sheet with random data. Same issue, I cant change margins, however I noticed that again I change the width and it instantly changes, I go to do the height and nothing changes. I tried this on a couple of different computers with different printers.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
