    Copies of database

Is it safe to do a simple copy and paste of databases on the same network? I've always had success with this in the past by renaming to a new version and date, but it seems like when doing this inherited databases, there is a component that is linking the original and copied version. Example, copying and pasting a database and renaming the copied version. If I go in and add or change any names in a table on the copied and renamed version, it also changes it in the original table as well. I've heard this can happen, but never experienced it.

This is NOT a split design? If not split, I don't see how that can happen.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

No, not split. I don't understand it either. Thanks so I'm not alone in my wonder.
