Editing Data in Form

Hello,



I have created a database with one table, and 12 fields. I want to create a form with this data. I have already entered the data into the table and created the form. I want the users to be able to edit the form and add information and save it to each record. And for the data they entered to not go on all the records. Any clue how to solve this?

Also I want to lock 2 fields so you can't change the information.

Access will automatically save the record adjustments, so you won't have to worry about that. As long as two people are not trying to edit the same record at the same time. If you have your form 'bound' to the table, you can edit records in multiple ways. Since you only have 12 records, it would be easy to just use the Navigation Pane down at the bottom of the form to scroll through the records until you have found the one that you would like to edit. In addition, you can a record by scrolling all the way to the right, which would be the 13th record. This will make all of the fields on the form blank and allow you to edit them. As far as 'locking' the two fields, you can simply remove the fields from the form, that way the user will never have a chance to edit this field through the form, that is.

Thanks. But when they edit the form will it be saved back to the table? And I want them to be able to see the field on the form. just not be able to edit it

Yes, it will be saved directly to the table as well. NOTE: if the table is open, the edit/new record(s) will not be visible until the table is opened and closed again. There are ways to do this if it is absolutely necessary, but for your case, I don't see why it would be.

As far as the user seeing the field on the form, do you mean having the table visible within your form?

If this is the case, maybe you should try building a new form by selecting Create then in the 'Forms' section, select 'More Forms' which will show several different form types. From what I understand, 'Split Form' is what you would want. This way the user can see what is being done to the table as well as using the form.
