User Interface Missing - Help Please

    Hi,

I have been sent an access database which i loaded in to a new copy of access i have.. I dont really know access as this will eventually be used by a colleague to input some company inventory.. The database seems to open fine but I remember seeing a user interface that was used by the previous people to enter data. I think this is caled a form... I dont see this so is there something else they need to send me or is it stored in the db file and I just need to enable it in my access application... sorry about dumb questions.... help please... THANKYOU

It can all be inside of one file. Have you set the Trusted Location yet? http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/de...aspx?PageId=13

Yes it loaded OK and I could see the data in its rows etc... what I couldn't see was the interface the other PC access had such as "add new order" etc which was the intuative interface to the data that someone must have crafted.. do I just need to turn something on when I open the dBASE on new PC?

I'm afraid the UI in dBase is completely different than MS Access. You will need to create a new UI for Access. Sorry.

In that case it should have imported the forms as well. Do you have any in the new system?

with a brand new copy of ms access on the new pc i opened the existing database file i was given off usb stick... when it opens i can see the correct row and columns and the data in the relevant fields... but i cant see the form (if thats what its called) that allows you to example "add a new shop item" and then it puts it wherever they coded it to go in the relevant access column etc... MAYBE I JUST dont know how to turn this on... is there something I need to try in access to try have it also display this form (if thats what its called).. how I am making myself clear... apologies... getting worried here as I was wanting to show to colleagues tomorrow (gulp!).. I did allow the options when it asked but that didnt show the form/gui/whatever its called ;-(
    Thoughts?

Sorry I didnt get back earlier.
I tried this (http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/de...aspx?PageId=96) based on your advice but there wasnt one to choose from the picklist.
I am wondering if they saved things correctly to usb..
Should they have done a 'save as' or 'manage'?
The file created should be a '.accdb' file?
    Thoughts?

I would have just used Windows to copy the db to the thumb drive. No Save As...anything.

Sorry to jump in, but another possibility is that the application was split, and they only sent you the data file. If it was split, which is very common, there would be a separate Access db with all the forms, reports, etc in it. You might ask the people who sent you the file if that's the case.

we thik that the person who sent it isnt that faniliar with access either.. i think some development people originally set a bunch of stuff up but they have moved on i think ;-(
where would they look in file manager for the 2 files?... what are their suffixes etc?
