If I use the criteria <#07:15# or >#9:15#
I end up with

06:30 - 14:30
12:15 - 14:15

The 12:15 is great. This person does not have a class between 7:15 - 9:15
However the 06:30 - 14:30 does not work because they are in a class at that time.

Is the time data in date/time or text fields?

Need full date/time value either in 24-hour time or AM/PM or convert to a number.

Dates are actually stored as numbers in Access table.

I used the criteria for overlapping records. However, I also had already changed by format to numbers. I am still getting a record set that includes people are are in class at the given time. Is there a best format to use when doing scheduling.

No it is date time and if i did everything right it did not work.

Are you just using the technique from the link? That lets you find people that have records for the time period. You'd do an unmatched query comparing that to a table with all people in it to find people who are available.
