    question about relationships


    hello all,
    can i write or change the relationship between tables in sql format in the access program, if i can from where?

    Yes you can, with DAO and ADO coding and I believe with SQL coding.

    Why would you want to do that though? Can you not set them in the designer?

    You can do it by executing several SQL strings (docmd.execute ...). That sequence is not intuitive on its face. It requires some study on your part.

    Litwin, Getz, et al's Access 2000 (and 2002) Developer's Handbook, Desktop Edition Developer's has a chapter on same. Note that there are 3 volumes for the hanbook. The Desktop Edition is the volume you would want. You can probably get either of those of amazon.com. I bought a used copy there for $10 plus shipping.
