Create a query from a textbox AND a combo box

I am new to Access. I have a database used for tracking machine parts and specs. I would like to be able to look for a specific part(s) based on the following:

Search by: (part#, work order#, etc listed in a combo box)
Number: (the specific number for the category above)

Could someone please help with this issue?

Maybe dependent (cascading) comboboxes what you need:

I though about that. However, the sheer number of items would make this impractical. Should the user want to search by Work Order #, having to scroll through thousands of work order numbers would be cumbersome. We generate over 100 work orders a day. The user will already have one of the "search for" category numbers or names. This is why I thought a textbox for the second part would be ideal. part numbers would be even worse, as we produce 10000 parts. Entering a number would be essential. (Side note: Our numbers have "-" in them, so they are designated as text. Other suggestions?

Don't have to scroll through the list. Start typing work order # in the combobox and AutoExpand will match item in list.

    However, review http://allenbrowne.com/ser-32.html
