Combo Boxes Not Functioning

I have been trying to establish a combo box that will allow users to enter information into the database, store the information, view it and check off activities and goals once they are done, however the combo boxes that I have set up either don't allow me to enter ANY information or just one single piece of information(yesterday I was able to create a combo box with a scroll bar, but would not allow me to enter any information)

I am trying to set up two combo boxes(two separate boxes, both with the same type of functionality, so we'll just deal with 'goals' to avoid confusion). I want to allow my users to enter information on their therapy goals into the database, then once they accomplish these goals indicate so by checking each off. I was under the impression that this was possible(as opposed to a List Box were only given information could be checked off. I have been able to create the box, however I cannot enter any information.

What gave you the impression this was possible?

I still don't understand your setup.

Users create records of their goals. Then users need to indicate goals are accomplished. These are two distinct data elements. One combobox cannot enter both. What indicates goals are accomplished - entry in a date field or just a check in a Yes/No field?

I have a textbook that says that it is possible to allow individuals to edit combo boxes

I agree with June7, your setup is suspect. Typically combo boxes are set up to allow selection from a fixed(edited/validated) set of values --NOT data entry.

A combobox/listbox purpose is to offer a list of values for users to choose from. This facilitates data entry efficiency and accuracy. If a user wants to enter a value not in the offered list, the combobox can be set up to allow this new value to be added to the list. This has nothing to do with later data entry to indicate goal accomplishment.
