What is 'connection button'? Where did you find it and you added it to what toolbar?

I have never worked with accde/mde files. Apparently this one was created without the navigation pane hidden. Why it would be exposed on de but not db file escapes me.

If you hold down the shift key while opening the accdb/mdb file, should override most project settings. Even if you don't see an expanded navigation pane with objects listed, do you at least see a vertical bar with the words 'Navigation Pane'?

Try F11 to reveal the navigation pane.

Did you try the import exercise?

If the front and back ends are both Access files, don't need an ODBC data source set up. Links to tables are managed within Access.

Well something else broke on it yesterday and everyone is ready to abandon the db all together! Yay! Looks like there is a programmer here that will re-create using a web format. Aparently we will not have so many issues? I dunno but then the heat is off me and I am totally ok with that.

So the users input contract info and the code writes it to two different tables. For some reason it did not write to one of the tables. I had the programmer here take a look and he did not know and thinks its just a glitch. Thats not going over well. I watched the user input a different contract and it did what it was supposed to. I am not sure if there was something in that one particular contract that made it blow up or what.

So for now I can manually go in and add the info...do I do that in the de or the db? I tried to add it to the de yesterday and it kept giving me errors.

Want to answer the questions I posed? Did you try F11? Did you try import? Shift key override does not work?

Accde/mde files cannot be modified. I have never used but I suspect it is the frontend and does not have tables. So how could you manually add data to it?

If you can manually go in and add info then you must be looking at backend accdb/mdb that has only tables.

Damn I lost my post. F11 worked. With the new development I am not going to look into this further. It would be nice to know what happened but honestly I have other work to get done and cannot focus any more time on this. We are going forward with the web format and I am going to focus my efforts there. Sruggling through this and from the posts here I have learned so much.

I was not even able to add the record to the db file. I re-added using the db and supprisingly it worked. I was expecting an error along the lines of it being a duplicate record. Anyway, moving on and so happy as this was a huge source of stress for me.

    Thanks for all the help!
