    Very Slow Calculated Field

    HI,
I have this strange thing happening with Access 2007 running a 2003 database on Window 7 operating System.
I have a front and back end 2003 data base. all front end tables linked to the back end.
OK I have a form that has customer name etc. and it has within it a subform with the customers items that he has previously purchased with prices etc.
Now here is the strange thing.

I have a fileld that has its control source set to = Sum([PartQty]*[PartUnitprice]) now when running this on windows XP or Windows Vista the field update in fractions of a second which is what I expect.
But with windows 7 the calculation takes forever SLOW SLOW SLOW then oh there is the result. This is no good when you expect it to update instantly you change between records.

Well after many hours of trying to make it go faster as per previous operating systems I just clicked on the task bar at the bottom of the windows 7 window and wow the calculation is instant.

So to try and clarify, if my calculated field hangs up and just says constantly calculating I click the task bar and the calculation result apears instantly.
Has anybody else noticed this. Is there a win 7 fix as I suspect its win 7 causing access to do this.

    Regards

I have not heard of one yet but MS is about to release a Service Pack for Win7. Maybe that will make a difference.

Starting to experience what you are seeing with a SubForm updating. I have been doing a direct Requery when I know it needs it instead of waiting for the Access Tasker to get around to it. It helps a lot.

This is a very poor show from Microsoft don't you think. Seems even the basics are not compatable any longer. This is unworkable here and so I wait for the upgrade I guess and see what happens then.
    Thanks

There are *always* issues with a new release. I chalk this up to just one of them for now.
