How to convert a db to txt

    Hi,

In Forefront Server Security Administrator it's possible to make an export of the incidents.mdb (Access Database). This is working fine. However, I need to make a export on a regular basis so I would like to make a script of that.

What is the easiest way to convert.export an Access DB to a Text File?.
Can it be done by using VB-script, commandline or Powershell?

    Kind regards,
    Jan Schouls

ummm, you can't do that. you can't change a file extension and expect it to work. you can however, export different parts of the database, like the tables. I have no idea what you mean by 'export a database'

What a coincidence, I just became an MCTS in Forefront this morning!

Have you looked at enabling Virus Logging so that info is written to viruslog.txt? I believe it will record the same info as Incidents.mdb except for Author and Modified by.

You can export the data in the tables to text files programmatically, but it will be a lot of work.

    Adam,

I do not know how I gave you the impression of a extension rename. Offcourse that won't work!

If you enter Forefront Server Security Administrator on the exchange machine, and select, Report, select the Incidents.mdb, there is an option "Export".
