    Converting 2000 to 2007

I have a database that was created in Access 2000. I have used it in 2003 and now in 2007. I want to convert it to 2007. I follow the steps to open the database. Then I click the Office button and then Save As Access 2007 database. It asks for a new file name and I click "Save." Then I get a message that I am trying to open a database that is already opened exclusively by "me" and to close it and try again. Any hints?

Are you using the ACCDB or MDB extension for the new file name?

Instead of using Save As have you tried the Convert function?

Is it possible anyone else may be accessing the DB, too? I typically get the same message if I try to make an edit on a DB. It will show my connection to it but doesn't note the other people using it.

If you copy the file to another folder does it still give you an error when trying to convert?

I copied it before even trying to convert it, so I know that I am the only one using it.

The only thing I found that works is to import my current 2000 database into a blank 2007 database. Will that recreate the relationships or do I have to go in and set those up myself?

I found out that when a database opens up to a switchboard, that hinders conversion. When I went to Access Options from the Office Button and clicked on Current Database, then changed the "Display Form" to "none" I was able to successfully use the "Convert" option in the Office Button to convert a 2000 database to a 2007. I'm so happy!
