MS Access via OpenVPN

Hello,

in a NGO organization we are working with a NAS server which contains Access 2016 applicationsa and other MS Office files.
From home we can connect to the NAS via an OpenVPN connection. But this kind of connection with Access application is terribly slow.

Is there another method to establish a faster connection with our NAS server?
