Add new record into different table

Not really sure where to start. I have a table (materials), and a form (form1, split) that the user would open and if they need something can click a button to add that material to a different table (order). Would also like to add the current date. Normally I would at least show what I have been able to do, but im kinda lost on how to start. If this is even possible.

    Options:

    1. Main form bound to Users, subform bound to Orders with a combobox to select material

    2. Main form bound to Materials, subform bound to Orders with a combobox to select user

    3. A single form bound to Orders with two comboboxes to select material and user

    4. A bunch of code (macro or VBA)

    Thank you

I thought of adding a checkbox (yes or no) that they can look thru the list of materials and select the checkbox. Then run an append query to append the orders table and remove the checkboxes (no) after appended to table

Be aware, if db has multiple simultaneous users, they will conflict. However, supposed to be able to accomplish with a method that involves a form based on a 'disconnected recordset' but I have never implemented. Review https://www.access-programmers.co.uk...s-form.318930/
