    Save Query As error

    Hello,

I wanted to make a copy of my query by choosing File->Saves As->Save Object As->Query

The new query is being opened in a new tab but it's not included in object list. Choosing Design Mode or Save as generates the following error

Having said that, choosing copy+paste in object menu creates a copy without a hiccup. I'm not sure if there's any difference in practise between these 2 methods, I was just following tutorial :-)

It does exist. Depending on the way I make a copy Access returns an error or not

A quick test and I can replicate the issue. Can't play further for a while.

OK, my test was on a db someone had recently uploaded here. Even though I'm looking at the query in datasheet view I can't open it in any other view and that error message is raised. I compacted, re-did save as (for object) and all of a sudden the copy was in the nav pane (it wasn't before) and the other views are available. So try a compact/repair.

After creating the new object, use Application.RefreshDatabaseWindow to update the list in the navigation pane

I tried to refresh after I saved as; didn't help but nor should you have to? After c/r it functions as it should & no need to refresh.
