Problem with Wizards in Access 2010

    Hi All,
I have just recently returned to Access coding after a break of a few years.

I have MS Office Pro installed on my PC.

However, when I started to use it again I am getting an error message
When I try to use the Look up wizard in a new table table I first get a message saying I should save the table. I do this.
I then get a message saying that the table is in use and that I can't proceed.

Subsequently I get a message saying I should reinstall the Wizards,

Problem is, I no longer have the discs.

So I tried to return to my MS Office 2007 but having both versions on the same computer is causing me issues with Outlook and Access.

    Any suggestions please

I've never seen that issue. However, you might be able to avoid the problem by not using lookup fields in tables as it's generally considered to be bad practice anyway. You use lookup tables instead. Here's a few links centered on the subject of table fields. Maybe the message about the table being in use is the one you're trying to use as the field lookup?

    Well stop right there.🙄
It is generally recommended not to use table lookups. Google them.

to be more specific, I want to open a form and subform to allow an Owner to bring in his pet. So on the main form we look up the owner.
Now I want to see what pets are registered with us. This is a subform
So I need a link between the owner and his (multiple) pets

So you have a form for owner and a subform for the OwnerPet table.
You link the forms by the OwnerID ?

Then when you select an owner in the mainform, all their pets are displayed in the subform.?

The subform control has entries for master and child values.
