    Old Form Help

So at my current job(military) someone showed up with a new form for us to use to order supplies. However, it is set up to use with the old base information. My issue lies in trying to edit the information for my our current base. The file has no navigation pane so I cant see any tables, forms or reports. I finally went to design view and used alt+f8 to pull up the field list and was able to edit tables that way because the form pulls its headers from the table. Once the information is updated, the form that was created with that table updates, however, I get stuck in a loop of it asking me to save changes. I will click on the form then click on a tab within that form and it prompts me to save changes even though I didn't change anything. if I click yes nothing happens, but if I click no, I can proceed on doing what I need to do. I then click on my macro button and it runs the macro almost as its supposed to. all fields get moved to a sub form except the field I updated on the table I can go back into the table and edit the information back to the original state, and then the macro works perfect. This leads into my next issue, which is when I click on the file tab, all I can do is print or exit, there is no save button, no fix corrupted button, nothing but print and exit. I have no options with this form, cant create a new form, table or anything. When I open this file, it opens directly to the form, and not how access opens normally showing all my work. I know this is probably hard to understand, trust me I have tried to google for answers but I honestly don't even know what to google for. the file is not locked and is a .accdb. my only running theory here is that the new person did not bring the source file and only has a link file. but that only half makes sense to me. Whoever built this access form was an access wizard(at least to me). I have taken a college class on access, but I cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is a way to share my file, I will gladly do so, so someone can see exactly what I am talking about.

You can upload a copy here. You should copy the db, compact the copy, then zip it and upload.
At the very top of this web page you should see "how to attach files" in the search/menu bar.

WHat happens if you hold down the shift key while opening the file (hold it until Access finishes loading)?

You don't Save As to zip. Windows File Explorer>right click>Send To>zip folder

holding the shift key was magic. it opened it up like it was a normal file. never heard of that trick before. thank you so much. maybe i can dig a little deeper now into the file. just for future reference, what does that do, what type of file do i have.

yeah I tired that, but it gets it down to 3 gigs, which is still over the file size for this forum.

That doesn't sound right. 2Gb is the max file size possible for any Access db - or so everyone says. What you're asking about is the shift bypass. It disables startup code and it is a db property that can be set.

So at least now you're able to investigate what is limiting your options and where all the data is coming from. Look at the AUtoExec macro if present and the startupi form Load/Open events to see if there are any settings of interest.
    Please post back if stuck.

2 GB is the max file size for an Access database, looks like yours is about 3 MB. If you want to upload it to this forum please make sure you scrub it to remove any private/sensitive info.
