Access ugly after win 10 upgrade

    Hi,

I've just upgraded my work PC to win10 from win7. While the database seems functionally fine with the transition aesthetically it's a mess. Primarily the commend buttons are all misshapen. When I look at a form in edit mode I can correct the misshapen buttons. Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything I can do to revert to the previous view feel? If not how do I edit the forms successfully (when I try and move a commend button it shows up as it's original correct size but when displayed is generally larger. Is this a setting somewhere?

    Thanks

See attached. On page 1 is what the form looks like when in use. The pale blue area is the size the button should be. The second is in design view. The box shows the size access thinks the command button is, changing this has no effect on how it is displayed.

I found this thread which I think is the same issue, but the last comment wasn't clear how it was resolved. Something with computer display settings. (Damn this work computer won't let me paste the link, first entry on Google when you type "access command buttons weird win10", i'll try and post the link in a further post from my own laptop.

Aargh, stupid work restrictions, one sec. Will try again in a minute

This is the link I think is the same problem, I couldn't quite determine what their solution was.

The Add button looks like it is on top of another larger button. Have you checked that?

Otherwise, my suggestion would be to check if you are using layout guides and, if so, remove them.
If you use the wizard to create forms, layout guides are used automatically

I didn't understand the final comment in that link either

If none of that helps, suggest you upload a cut down version of your database with just the relevant form(s) and just enough 'dummy' data to allow them to work.

It's not onto of another button and I'm not using guides, I never use a wizard to create forms, I hate what he wizards do (except occasionally when I'm doing a simple datasheet subform).

There is no way I can upload a cut down version of the database it's huge. It's something to do with the PC I'm using now, which is an HP Elitebook and something to do with the display settings. Nothing has changed in the database which was displaying fine on my own Win7 HP laptop.

That thread is really annoying, the last comment is "I fixed it" but isn't specific as to how. I'll keep searching, it's nothing to do with how the forms are created, it's something to do with the display settings and or win10. Thanks anyway, extensive Googling is yet to help.

I think that is an embedded custom image as Picture of the buttons that new OS doesn't manage properly.
If I'm right, try to remove the Picture property of the button or set the property Picture Caption Arrangement to somethink else than "No Picture Caption".

    I hope helps!

    Cheers,
    John

re the comment: search scaling (in Windows search bar) or go to settings. It's under options>display in Windows
It didn't make a difference to the one db form I played with.

I've tried changing all the picture and caption options to every possible combination with no luck so far. Onwards!! There has to be something that can be done

Just a left field thought - have you tried playing with the Use Themes property?
(Both at a database options and control level) It will change the appearance of command buttons.

I wonder if you are stuck using a theme that windows 10 doesn't like or recognise?

Oh Gawd, now I've changed the colour of everything and can't get it back. It's okay it doesn't look too bad and I have a backup worst case.

That didn't fix the issue though, thank for the thought though

As another update I just did a test and this happens with new command buttons that I create in Win10 as well as those that already existed before the change of computer

I also think it's something to do with this particular machine as I'm creating a database for personal use on my home computer and I don't see the same problem
