Pivot table problems...

When creating a pivot table, access 2010 hangs (not responding). This happens when trying to create a pivot table with ANY data; however, if the table contains NO DATA the row data will be created. For instance-If I have a product table and want to place product name in the row section, price in column, and profit in totals section, access will stop responding if there is ANY data in that table. If there is no data the headings ONLY will populate the Pivot table. I have tried to create pivot table on my own database and also using northwind-same error (not responding). I am running windows 7 ultimate with 16 megs of ram. Would appreciate ANY suggestions as to what is causing this behavior.

If MSAccess is 'not responding' when you execute any kind of query, I might look at the query design itself, then look at the data in the table to see if there are perhaps some 'bad' data values (such as a date field with a value of 12/33 which could cause it not to respond, especially with Pivot type queries), and then perhaps look at the possibility of a corrupt mdb and compacting/repairng the mdb.
