    "Another user..." warning message

Occasionally, when I am working on my database, I get a warning that information has been changed "by another user". I am the only user of the DB and do not have the DB opened anywhere else.

To be more specific, today I had to make amendments to certain records. I ran a query to bring up only those records and as I reviewed made changes either in the query or by going to the specific record involved. I only get the warning mentioned occasionally and as there is no "ignore" option clicking out of the warning box usually deletes a change I have made.

Again, can't figure out why this is happening.

I avoid most of these type of errors by always using queries rather than directly to a table.

    Ive hit this too,
but it shouldnt happen if youre the only one in, and you dont have multiple forms accessing the same data.
and dont have multiple copies open.

It can also happen if you have a bound form but you use code to update the same data. The code and the bound form are the "different users".

Thank you all. In addition to your comments/suggestions I did some research. Apparently, in my case, if you are working with both a query result and a form, any changes you make affecting both should only be made on one or the other. Even if more convenient to do so, making changes on both will cause the error message. Once I started making changes on just the form and not in the query, all was okay. Irritating and I would think the brains at MS would have addressed his already.

    Thanks again.

It makes sense, as that is two "users" of the data. I would never expose a table or query to users, but I suppose you could use the deactivate/activate events of the form to save the record/requery the form. I think that would allow you to use both, though that's total speculation.
