MS support for Office 2007 ends today

For those who are not aware:

Microsoft released Office 2007 on January 30, 2007. The company thus supported the product beyond its minimum 10 years. It received three major updates: Service Pack 1 (in December 2007), Service Pack 2 (in April 2009), and Service Pack 3 (in October 2011).
Office 2007 will still work on your computer after today, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and malware. Now that Office 2007 support has ended, Microsoft will push those users to upgrade. In other words, Office 2007 is dead in Microsoft’s eyes.

My network group approached me about it yesterday. They suggested we go to Office 2010 as they already have licenses for it but I was asking why not go to 2016 if we have to upgrade. Anyone know if Access 2010 is good or are their bugs to know about? Or anyone used both 2010 and 2016 can say the differences or if there is anything in Access 2016 that is really good to have? I assume a databased in 2010 or 2016 can be opened by either program?

personally, I would stick at 2010 for now. It's very stable and I have not had any issues. There are some current issues with 2016 - see this link

There is nothing I can think of in 2013/16 which is worth going for - primary differences are to the design interface.

2016 should open 2010 accdb or .accde without issue. 2010 will open 2016 subject to a) the 2016 version does not have anything post 2010 in it and b) it is a .accdb, not .accde

See this link for differences - there is little difference between 2013 and 2016.

And beware the 32/64bit office issue - stick to 32bit if you can. 64bit does not offer any performance benefits over 32bit (only for excel) and a number of active x controls do not have a 64bit alternative
