    Forgot Password to Database

It was suggested to password an Access database. The other day, I tried and kept getting a message that it couldn't be password protected; however, now when I go to open it, it is asking for a password and I don't know what I used. I've tried everything that I would have used and nothing is working. I'm hoping someone can help me so I can open this file.

2010 uses 128bit encryption - very difficult to break. If you have some standards/methods (e.g. substituting a number for a letter, use of upper case) try to be methodical. Write down all the different permutations you might have used. Then go through them one by one, also noting from your typing style where you might have consistently mis-keyed a character (because you have to enter the password twice). It worked for a client of mine, took several hundred attempts - but it worked.

Another thought. If you are on a network, talk to your IT department (who should be backing up daily) about getting a restore of the file from a period when you know you hadn't applied a password.
