you add it manually. You shouldnt need to add tables often. Only for new enhancements.
add table in BE
link to FE
distribute FE to all users.
You open the be and the table is there, but doesn't show in the list of tables to link to when you open the fe?
Then I guess the table is set to be hidden in the be, or you're pointing the fe to the wrong folder
If others can see it but you cannot, then your fe must be mapped wrong.IT moved the data/files/folders/etc from one server to another
The more we hear silence, the more we begin to think about our value in this universe.
Paraphrase of Professor Brian Cox.
Ramman256 & Micron: Yes, this is the first time in 2 yrs I'm adding a table; I did add it to _be; I think my mistake was correctly linking to the table in the _be from the _fe. A quick 'google' showed the correct procedure, which I had done 'almost' correctly. when I followed the instructions, it worked. thus "solved".
No one else sees it because it is brand new. I'm prepping to be able to use it, insert records into it, with a form/recordset/query process I have used from the beginning, for the other tables. The _fe is also on the file share, separated from the _be, and any user needing access to the dB downloads the runtime.exe file and the _fe file, but not the _be. They then run the 'runtime' ! The _fe is written so limited access is granted, preventing corruption of data. (some users have MSAccess, and know the circumventions to bypass that, but not many. No data in dB is dangerous to anyone, its just an asset tracker for engineering r&d materials. So, corruption isn't 'lethal', only frustrating, if it should happen. its therefore an innocuous application.
thank you gentlemen. I appreciate your attention and rapid responses. You both have a great day!
