Split Database by VBA code

HI Guys



I was wondering, is it possible to split and access database by using vba code?

for example

would it be possible when a button it clicked that your able to browse to a network location, once that folder location is selected the database is split then all the tables reconnected automatically

I would love to try to do this if it's possible

no. split it manually.
no need to automate it.
split it then send the FE to the users.

Splitting the database is a "one-time" task (once a database is split, it is split).
So there really shouldn't be any need to automate a one-time task.

If you have a number of databases that need to be split, I would be hesitant to automate anything like that. I think you want to do each one, one at a time, to monitor it and make sure that the split works properly without any issues or errors.

This is the most important part of Joe's post...there are many things that can prevent the Splitting of a Database, and one or more of these things occur, the attempt to automate the operation would fail and I suspect that you wouldn't be aware of it.

There are a number of hacks on the web to alleviate some of the 'pain' of updating the Front Ends of distributed DBs. Here's guide to one of them
