How to get the mileage in one table to link to mileage in another based on the name selected.

I have two tables set up, one called Appointments and one is contacts, I have set up a lookup wizard for the field Names in appointments so that i can choose a certain contact, now I want to set the Mileage value on appointments to the mileage value assigned to the contact automatically. Is there anyway of doing this, pls let me know if you need anymore information. (Im new to this)

join the 2 tables on the Name field. This is basic query design.

I dont know if this helps but I've link the two fields but nothing has changed, basically in contacts a name has a set mileage value in another field, I want this value to be put into the mileage field on appointments, when I select a name on appointments, but at the moment the mileage value is just staying at 10, when it should be 15 then 20.
