Embedding Word document within Access forms.

    Good morning,

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I am quite new to Access and I have attempted to scour the web for a solution.

Essentially I am trying to make a few forms that interact with Microsoft Word.

I am trying to Embed a version of the word processor within a form, the user would then be able to create a word document (or import their own) and then have Access save this to the correct file path dependent on the details that were entered in some of the other fields in that form. The file location would then be recorded within the database for other people to pull up when needed.

On the reading side, I would then like to embed word word in a form where they would then be able to view these word documents as they are called upon by the directory location recorded within the database.

I'm sorry if my predicament doesn't make sense. Any pointers of what direction I should look would be fantastic! And apologies if this has come up on the forum previously, I did try to search for a similar issue that had been solved.

    Cheers,
    George

Access has its own documents called reports.

As far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) a report would not do what I want in this situation.

The contents of the documents I'm trying to create and view are not determined by data within the database itself, only the clients that the documents are attached to and the employees that would be interested in them.

Essentially I want the word documents as these can be more flexible (inserting images and screen shots etc.)

Basically I want a library of documents for clients outlining procedures, notes, details etc.
Each user can then view new, unread, documents that are attached to clients which they oversee.

I believe that essentially just having a hyperlink connected to these noteIDs in the table would be an easy work around.. but I would have preferred to have an embedded object within the forms. I believe this would be better as it would look neater but also help ensure that the naming convention of all notes follows suit and directory addresses get correctly mapped (e.g. doc named [client] & [Note title] & [Creation Date], location is set correctly as [directory(dependent on department)]\[client(as sub folder)]\ docname)
I believe I could easy get the naming convention down if I make them create the document through a form, it opens up the document - saving it in the correct places names etc. but then there is a chance that they rename it breaking the mapping.

I don't know if this clears up the intention of my issue? Apologies if this does not make sense.
