Applying Password to Access 2013 Database

Applying Password to Access 2013 Database - Per the instructions, I need to open the database in "exclusive" mode. However, there's no opportunity to specify that I want to open in "exclusive" mode. When I choose "File", the only thing it allows me to do is open the database. Please advise how to place a password on an Access 2013 database. Thanks.

on the OPEN button, is a down arrow, click down arrow, OPEN EXCLUSIVE.

Thanks. I found it. Upon entering a password, however, it's taking forever to come back. Is it doing more than assigning a password to open the database?
