Criteria based on column title

Hi i add new excel table to my database, after that acess fill one of my columns based on one of the column title from this new excel, and after it transfer this value to code based on field from another table in my database.




p.s.This is my first work with MS access, so be nice

an update query to fill in the new column

Ok,
my problem is that i add new data from multiple xls spreedsheets, were i have column with variable (text), which i want to join to existing table in ms access to column that contains values which are numbers becaous they ar as codes that replace these variables, codes are explained what is what in another table).

but As i try to do then access does not allow me to apend new data to existing table if there are format differencies.
