    How to open or conect to a dbf file?

    I can conect to a dbf file with OpenOffice Base but not with Access 2013.

    How to do it?

    Using "ODBC data source" in windows donīt work too.

    There is an option in 2010 external data (more) bottom of list. I don't have 2013 so can not comment.

    Is this a 1 time thing to load data?

    1 . Yes, there is an option but only for xml definition files.



    2 . And no, is not for 1 time thing. It is to stay connected an editing data.


    I think the file is a dBase original extention (this one, originated from QGIS app),.

    I found this here:


    eature Description Replacement Additional Information
    dBASE support removed from Access dBASE support is removed – you can no longer connect to an external dBASE database.

    But the Windows 10 "ODBC data souce" option have dBase drivers...

    as you have discovered, dbase is not supported in 2013 going forward

    at the top on the green bar to the right you will see 'thread tools' - click on this and select from list

    There is a free tool here. I haven't tested/tried it, but the literature indicates it will convert dbf to xml.
    Since it is free, you can try it.
