    making a form writable?

    HI

created a query based on two tables and when I view it by double clicking the table I can edit any field and the changes are saved.

I then using the wizard ( re a previous post) created a form based on the query and when I run that form it appears to be read only

    Have I missed a setting?

    thanks

    Ian

Not all joined tables are editable. Some are.
depends on the join and relationships. You must have a parent/child relation.

    Hi

    thanks for the reply

whats confusing me is that if I double click on the query I can add, edit a record and if I close the database and reopen it my edits changes are saved so I've assumed that my table stucture allows edits etc.

When I open the form which was ceated using the form wizard no changes are permitted so I suspect it's a setting on the form properties screen which is making the form read only?

    Is my logic wrong

    thanks

    Ian

Check the Allow Edits property of the form - it must be set to Yes.
