lookup price on a subform, need to set value

Ok, I have a form with a subform. On my main form I have product name and cost. On my subform, I have Ordered date, quantity and cost. I am able to pull the cost to auto populate when the user is entering a line on the subform, however I need to set this cost so it does not change after the user has entered all of there information for that line item. The reason is if the cost of the inventory ever changes, I do not want historical cost to change throughout the entire subform history.
